After months of working behind the scene on his new project, entrepreneur Michael Uyi Agho finally launched his clothing line, Still Broke, an authentic line of designer underwear. Comedian cum on-air personality Ushbebe hosted the star-studded event, which was held at Oasis Medspa, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The launch, which witnessed a runway show that exhibited some of the outfits, also hosted high-profile celebrities and personalities, who witnessed a new era of underwear donning, as several stunning male and female models strut the runway with grace, showcasing various cool ways in which one can wear or combine the underwear with outfits.

An array of stylish active wears from the Still Broke brand was also on displayed, including yoga pants, leggings, tracksuit bottoms, sports bra and others.

Meanwhile, some notable stars such as Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Annie Idibia, Lilian Esoro and Freda Francis had also been captured rocking Still Broke outfit ahead of the launch.

In a chart with the CEO of the brand Michael Uyi Agho, he gave insight into the metaphorical brand name and its theme, adding, “The whole message and theme behind Still Broke is one of positivity; it conveys the message of steadfastness, even whilst recording a great level of success.

The brand aims to imbue its wearer with the confidence needed to carry on and keep thriving at whatever you do. In essence, we are saying, in everything you do, you’ve got to hustle like you are Still Broke,” he explained.

On his interest in the fashion world, he said, “the journey started from my childhood; I’ve always been fashion driven because my mum was into the fashion business; she owned a fabric store back then and I would always help her out with colour combinations.

To be honest, I’ve always wanted to own a fashion brand and when I started, it came off as a joke to so many people.

Even though this isn’t my first business, a lot of people still didn’t believe I was going to actually start it,” he disclosed.

The idea behind StillBroke, according to Agho, is to bring a luxury brand to Africa at a very affordable price.

“A lot of times, we see people running out of Africa to get luxury underwear; I wanted it to stop!

Every time I travel out of the country, I keep getting calls from some of my friends to help them buy these underwear, which by the way, is quite expensive.

And I just felt the need to bring something that measures up to that same standard but at a more affordable price,” he said.

To the designer, the fashion industry in Nigeria is a virgin industry with huge untapped potentials.

“Most people come into the industry for the wrong reasons; some just want to penetrate the market in order to make money, which is important.

However, money shouldn’t be what drives you; passion should. To go into the fashion business, you have to be fashionable period!”

Aside from StillBroke, Michael Agho also has three other brands.

“The first one is 3D Cars Online and it is a car modification company. I also have 3D Wash, which is a mobile carwash company.

You don’t have to worry about bringing your car to us; we come to you and clean it up. The other one is a record label and it’s called Band Wagon Entertainment,” he said.

On the successful launch of his clothing line, he said, “I feel really proud of myself.

As much as I knew what I wanted to achieve with the brand, I was also skeptical about the reception I might get. But I’m overwhelmed with the love so far and I cannot be less happy and grateful,” he enthused.

Meanwhile, Nigerian rap star Reminisce, who is popularly known for his street rap swag, recently released shiny new photos where he rocked the Still Broke brand. Photographed by Felixcrown, the photos show Reminisce dazzling with an army of men dressed alike strutting majestic poses with underwear in view.
