I HAVE been in a relationship for 10 years. I love him, we share the same interests and dreams and I feel attracted to him as well as him being my best friend. He has difficulty showing his feelings and can’t really talk to me, so he is not very affectionate. But I can see that he loves me and I want to be with him. We are not regularly “intimate” and I guessed the relationship could use some new sparks.

About three weeks ago, I went to a work event with him. We both got drunk a little; he kissed me and then told me he had fallen in love with me for more than seven years already (I’ve worked with him for 10 years). All of a sudden, I felt really in love with him. I think it was the rush of the feeling of being loved again. The problem is that there is a strong emotional and sexual urge from both sides. After about a week or two, I realized he was the wrong guy for me.

Though he doesn’t share the same interests and dreams with me, but I could openly talk to him about my feelings. So I told him we could only be friends, that he was not the one for me. But now he started to chase me a little and told me that he knows I love him and we are so meant for each other, which I hate, because it makes me feel closed in. He said that he would never give up and would wait for another seven years, if he has to. He’s in an unhappy relationship and he doesn’t love his girlfriend, it even came to the point that he cried openly and I saw he was “broken” inside and I think he wants me to help him.

I got angry because of him trying to prove a point that we love each other and for “stalking” me a little, but then on other moments I miss having him around. However, I have to work with this guy everyday; he sits on a desk right in front of me and takes every break with me. Any advice on how to handle this situation?
