The focus of this week’s edition of CNN African Voices shifts to three of the continent’s exceptional female singers who are using their voices to impact people in other ways other than music, programme sponsor, Globacom, has said.

Angelique Kidjo, the Grammy-winning living legend from Benin Republic, is one of the three guests to be profiled on the programme.

The 58-year-old is well known for her versatility reflected in several smash hits including Batonga, which she released in 1992; Agolo in 1994, and the hugely popular Wombo Lombo released in 1996. She is also an actress who has featured in a number of outstanding movies such as The CEO, Mother of George and People I Know.  

The second guest is Maria Bossman Damiba, better known as Ria Boss. The Ghana-based performer is a neo-soul singer and songwriter.

She is a female romanticist who has topped the music charts in Ghana with albums such as Lonecat, Underwater, Sweetbaby and Sampleplate Sandra Suubi, an artist and song performer from Uganda, is the third singer to tell her story on African Voices this weekend.
