Kudirat Abiola, Adadevoh, 22 others inducted into hall of fame

Mrs. Kudirat Abiola, wife to the late business mogul, politician and presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, the late Chief MKO Abiola, and the late Dr. Stella Adadevoh, a heroine of the fight against Ebola in Nigeria, were among prominent Nigerians inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Federal
Ministry of Women Affairs, through the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD) in Abuja, on June 10.

They were among the honoured 22 selected Nigerian women who have done phenomenally well in their respective endeavours. The government agency, while speaking on the induction, had stated that the women were chosen for their iconic contributions to national development in the induction, themed, Celebrating Nigerian Women: Icons of Hope.

Kudirat was assassinated on June 9, 1996, in the heat of the June 12 struggle, a date that has now been recognised as Democracy Day in Nigeria by the federal government, while Adadevoh, a Nigerian medical doctor that helped to curb the spread of the Ebola virus by ensuring that a Liberian patient, Patrick Sawyer, remained quarantined, despite pressures from his country, died in August 2014.
