The highly anticipated 80th anniversary celebration of the Ikoyi Club 1938 kicked off on Monday, September 24, amid pomp and fanfare. The social club deemed it appropriate to give a befitting theme quintessential to commemorate the landmark of 80th celebration.

The interpretation of the theme was unveiled in the series of programmes earmarked to mark the occasion. A major highlight of the programme was the formal unveiling of the 80th Anniversary logo, which represents the symbol of the celebrations and that places the club on the high pedestal of recreation, social interaction and bonding, including the values of the club to remain focused and a dynamic nerve centre of business and social networking.

In line with its commitment to further deepen its quest for a better country, the celebration anniversary lecture, which held during the week-long event, focused on nation building, with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as keynote speaker, while British High Commissioner, Sir Paul Thomas Artwright, was the special guest of honour. Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was chief host at the lecture.

Other high points of the anniversary celebration include the Elders’ Evening, which held the following day after the lecture before the cultural and business exhibition climaxed the activities last Saturday.
