Garlands for Basorge Kelsey Tariah Jnr at 52

Kind words from fans, friends, colleagues and well wishers have not stopped pouring in for foremost comic artiste, director, producer, singer, writer, dancer, choreographer, show host and show promoter, Basorge Kelsey Tariah Jnr, who clocked 52 recently.

The accomplished entertainer, who has traversed almost all areas of the entertainment industry with success, is clearly a pioneer of the Nollywood and stand-up comedy industry in Nigeria.

A jack of all trade and master of all, the father of four, who hails from Buguma in Rivers State, is easily remembered for playing to the hilt, the role of ‘Do Good’ in Zeb Ejiro’s long running television soap, Candle Light, also starring Kate Henshaw.

Basorge rode on the back of the success of that character to later conceive a stand out series, titled, Do Good, which shows on the African Magic belt.

Basorge studied Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt, from where he said he was properly prepared for what has become a lifetime involvement in showbizness.

Although he wanted to be a lawyer, Basorge explained that he knew from the beginning that entertainment was his line and nothing was going to stop it, “so, I remained focused, in spite of the pressure, and just started developing myself until the opportunity came for me to go and study Theatre Arts and I studied with the best and was trained by the best,”’ he enthused.

About 30 years later and Basorge, who loves to read, watch movies, sing and jam with ‘Basorge and The Old Boys,’ the musical band he established a few years ago, is grateful to God for the journey here and the journey ahead.

“I am really grateful for the life and opportunities God has blessed me with. Please, thank Him for me,” he said, even as he described the outpouring of love by his friends, colleagues and fans on a day that he simply wanted to “quietly thank God for the grace of life” as overwhelming.
