Filmone releases Chinese heritage film, My People, My Country

West African film distribution giant, FilmOne Distribution has released the highly anticipated Chinese blockbuster, My People, My Country across West African cinemas since the 1st of October 2019.

The film comprises of seven short stories anchored on Chinese heritage and conveys the emotion in the struggle for China’s sovereignty, as well as her reunion with Hong Kong.

My People, My Country was released in China on the 1st of October, which is a National day for both China and Nigeria. Hence, the period avails for a perfect release in Nigeria to commemorate liberation in both countries, with China celebrating her 70th founding anniversary and Nigeria, her 59th independence anniversary.

The film was put together by a team of seven famous Chinese directors, led by Chen Kaige (Farewell My Concubine), whose works have grossed over $100 million at China’s box office. It also features a stellar cast of actors such as the veteran Zhunahzuang Tian (The Warrior and the Wolf), Arthur Chen (My Best Summer) and Beibi Gong (Dying to Survive).

My People, My Country tells the touching story of the inseparable relationship between ordinary people and their country, focusing on the events of the great era. It sheds light on the everyday sacrifices of patriotic citizens and how they affect a nation as a whole.

My People, My Country has opened in China and grossed over $50 million by its second day of release. It has also opened in over five international markets including the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand and opened in Nigeria, Ghana and Liberia on Friday, the 4th of October.
