International advocacy organisation, Global Citizen, has announced September 25 as date for Global Citizen Live, an epic 24-hour global broadcast with events and performances filmed across six continents to unite the world to defend the planet and defeat poverty.

The once-in-a-generation 24-hour global broadcast will include simultaneous live music events, featuring some of the world’s music heavyweights, activists, and world leaders at iconic locations across the globe.

The locations include Lagos, Rio de Janeiro, New York City, Paris, London, Seoul, Los Angeles, and Sydney, among other cities that will be announced later. The event will broadcast live on ABC, ABC News Live, BBC, FX, iHeartRadio, Hulu, YouTube, and Twitter, among other streaming platforms.

Artistes and entertainers listed on the performance line up include Grammy award winners Burna Boy and Angélique Kidjo, Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Usher, H.E.R, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay.

Others are Adam Lambert, Alessia Cara, Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish, BTS, Camila Cabello, Christine and the Queens, Demi Lovato, DJ Snake, Duran Duran, Green Day, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness, Keith Urban, Lang Lang, Lizzo, Lorde, Metallica, Rag’n’Bone Man, Ricky Martin, Shawn Mendes, The Lumineers, and The Weeknd, with more to be announced in coming weeks.

Speaking about the event, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama said: “As we humans spend billions of dollars in search of newer worlds in outer space, Global Citizen Live brings us back down.
