On December 23, Fashion enthusiasts, designers, fashion icons, friends and well wishers from other sectors will convene at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos for the fourth edition of Mr and Miss Fashion Nigeria Pageant and Nigeria Icons Fashion Award.

Michy Okafor, CEO of Michy Conglomerate International Ltd and the brain behind the event, said that he started the annual event in 2013 because of his love for fashion and pageantry. “When I started I encountered some challenges but overcame because of my tenacity. Sponsorship had been a big issue for me but I try my best to manage it the way I can. The age bracket for contestant is 16 to 29 years. Contestants are judged based on their poise, catwalk, smile, eloquent speaking and dressing.”

The fashion entrepreneur and University of Jos Microbiology graduate who also have an event planning brand known as I’m In Love Wedding and Michy underwear line, said that on the same day there would be the Fashion Icon award. “For a person to be recognized for award, he or she must be outstanding.”

Okafor informs that the winner will go home with an official car, an apartment, one-year endorsement worth a million naira and travel abroad for international contests. If the winner is not available for the international contest, he or she can go on vacation in any part of the world. The male winner will do a pet project on HIV/AIDS where they will go on awareness campaign while the female winner will go to places and talk on the risks of abortion. I believe this year’s event will be better.”
