SENIOR Economic Advisor of the Open Society Foundation, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, has charged Nigerian leaders to maximise the emerging opportunities of the 21st century economy with increased accountability to usher in true prosperity and freedom for the country.

The former Nigerian Minister of Education gave the charge at the 2015 BrandiQ Symposium held at the Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, Lagos, with the theme: “Reinventing Brand Nigeria for the 21st Century Market Economy through Public Accountability and Responsible Citizenship.”

Analysing the rise of India from the doldrums of acute poverty and isolation and its impact on the competitive global economy, Ezekwesili said no nation can afford to be isolated from the global economy and expect to develop.

“In today’s global space, nations are involved in untiring competition to provide better quality of life for the citizens by ascertaining their competitive edge over others. It is a competition of nations seeking to create and enhance value in a certain pace that supports their citizens being ahead of other citizens from other parts of the world.
