Nigerian youth have been advised to shun politicians that attempt to use them for violence and other criminal activities.Training consultant with the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Benjamin Onoriode Irikefe gave this advice in Warri, Delta State while receiving an award of the Niger Delta Personality of Inestimable Value and Role Model to
The Younger Generation from the National Association of Niger Delta Students (NANDS).

Irikefe urged Nigerian youths, especially the student population, to shun all forms of violence and criminal activities, affirming that this was their humble way to support the current administration in its service delivery to the people.

According to him, they should desist from the temptations of opening themselves up both individually and collectively for selfish politicians’ use at the elections.“You must be steadfast in your resolve to be good citizens of this country and do not allow politicians to feast on your Intelligence whether at individual or group level. Always remember the child of who you are. I am happy to associate with you and hope to further my association with you, but would never be a party to any attack on the government. Call on me whenever you deem good especially if it concerns the development,  growth and wellbeing of the Nigerian youth,” Irikefe stated.

The National President of NANDS, Lucky Emonefe, while presenting the award to Irikefe, described him as a notable development expert especially of the youth population in the Niger Delta region.

Emonefe explained that the group had watched over time, the activities of the man they described as the trainers’ trainer, not only in the Niger Delta region but the entire nation. He noted that Irikefe, has impacted on lives immeasurably in the region, which informed the decision of the group to honour him as an illustrious son of no mean value.

According to Emonefe, who is a student of the University of Benin, Irikefe has turned many ex-militants “from gun militants to pen militants” in government efforts at rebuilding the region for more productive ventures, adding such falls within the desires of the association; stressing that no one from the region deserves the award more than Irikefe.
