Excitement as Madam Subuola Lawal celebrates kids at cultural day

Madam Subuola Lawal and her entire staff and students, some days ago, rolled out the drum to celebrate cultural day, amidst pomp and pageantry.

The STEE Schools, known for its multicultural activities and being a multinational institution, at the event had staff, students, parents and guests put up displays of rich cultural ethos of Nigeria, majorly through various cultural outfits.

This year’s Cultural Day specifically saw the school raising the ball to a whole new level in staging a musical play, titled, ‘Ovanranwen Nogbaisi, the musical.’ With a cast of almost 200 students from the primary and secondary schools, the event featured a rich display of music, dance and drama at their best, all fused together, with guests and parents blown away by the theatrics of students. The stage play is a narrative of Ola Rotimi’s book with the same title.

The event’s aim was to showcase the rich culture of the ancient Benin Kingdom during the reign of Oba Ovanranwen Nogbaisi, also called Overami, who was the King of the Benin Kingdom until the British punitive expedition of 1897.

This was the school’s first ever attempt at a musical play, and it was nothing short of intriguing and breathtaking.

Founder and Chief Executive of the school, Madam T. S. Lawal, said the children were wonderful and commended the parents for releasing their children for the cumbersome rehearsal sessions.
