Deji Falae’s widow, Ese, smiles again
After about five years legal battle, the widow and children of Deji, son of former secretary to the federal government, Chief Olu Falae, have secured N245.5million compensation against Associated Airlines and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
Deji’s wife and children had sued the airline operator and industry regulator for the plane crash that claimed the life of her husband and father of her children on October 3, 2013.
Deji and 12 other passengers lost their lives in the crash that occurred near a fuel dump near the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja.
The plane was carrying the remains of former Ondo State governor, Dr. Olusegun Agagu, to Akure, the state capital, for burial.
Ese and her children sued the airline and NCAA for complicit in the death of their breadwinner, and the Federal High Court in Lagos, presided over by Justice Hadiza Shagari, finally ruled in their favour and ordered the payment of the N245.5 million compensation to Ese and her children.
