Cross River: Five Key Appointments Made, As CVs Exchange Hands
WHILE many state governors have not made any key appointment since there were sworn into office last week, Cross River State Governor Prof. Ben Ayade has announced five key appointments.
The new appointments include that of Secretary to the State Government (SSG),
Mrs Tina Agbor, Chief of Staff Mr. Martins Orim, the former Chief Press Secretary to Senator Liyel Imoke, Mr. Christian Ita was reappointed, while the former Chief of Protocol to the former Deputy Governor, Mr. Emmanuel Asikpo Okon was appointed Chief of Protocol to the governor. Mr. Linus Obogo was appointed the Deputy Press Secretary to the governor.
From the appointments, three persons from the Senator Imoke led government have were reappointed. It is obvious that Senator Ayade’s government will involve some competent hands from the immediate past government; moreover the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is a family and will be all embracing.
Already lots of scheming are going on as many party enthusiasts and the professionals are jostling for the juicy cabinet positions. Curriculum Vitae are exchanging hands and it is expected that the list of Special Assistants, Special Advisers and Commissioners will be announced soon.
Prof. Ben Ayade has on his first day in office on June 1 promised to create to create 1,000 jobs in his first 100 days in office.
He said, “our target is to create 500 to 1,000 jobs in the first 100 days. We will sanction errant civil servants who failed to be in their offices by 8.10am.
“It is a responsibility of government to create jobs. I do not intend to drop, sack or reduce appointments in Cross River. But I am a change agent here to purify the system. It is my duty to block all leakages. I will not reduce political appointees, but will re-frame their mind-set about their job schedule”.
