The devastating effect of the Covid-19 pandemic has forced organisers of the annual Nollywood Film Festival Germany (NFFG) and the Nollywood Europe Golden Awards (NEGA) to cancel the 2020 edition of the festival and award ceremony earlier scheduled to hold between September 4 and 5 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Ehizoya Golden Entertainment, organisers of the event said they had no option than to cancel the event because of the rising cases of the pandemic, which has not allowed for proper planning for the festival.

President of the Ehizoya Golden Entertainment Isaac Izoya, who is popular as Cultural Ambassador, explained in a statement that the unprecedented Covid-19, which has hit hard on every sector including the entertainment industry, has not allowed the team to secure sponsorship as well as to process visa for invited guest.

“You know we host a couple of filmmakers and artistes from Nigeria annually and we needed time to process their travel and boarding needs. With Covid-19 it is impossible to achieve much so we have no alternative option than to regrettably cancel the festival and award. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused as we look forward to a Covid-free 2021 edition. As we say in Ehizoya, the show must go on,” he said.
