How did we forget to mention here that popular stage and screen actress, Clarion Chukwurah, was home recently from her base in the United States?

The actress, who is looking ‘every year young,’ stormed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and her first port of call was the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

She later shared pictures of the visit on her Facebook, where she was seen in a pose handing a document to the Special Adviser to President Muhammed Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

Clarion later hinted that she presented for onward transmission to the President, a document containing solutions to the lingering unemployment in Nigeria.

“It is not enough to sit back and complain. We should also proffer solutions, and that is exactly what I have done at the Presidency, presentation of Capital Dreams USA, LLC Consultancy’s job core mass employment programme designed to assist Bugari’s government move Nigeria out of the unemployment despondency,” she explained.

A multi-award-winning actress, who was honoured with the Danny Glover Humanitarian award in New York in in 2016, the mother, wife, actress, philanthropist and patriot was also awarded the city of Houston’s humanitarian proclamation award from the mayor of Houston last year.

Born to Mr. John and Mrs. Christiana Chukwurah, Clarion had her early education at Moluka and Ladi Lak Nursery Schools in Yaba, Lagos, All Saints Primary School, Yaba and Queen of Our Rosary College (QRC), Onitsha, Anambra State.

She proceeded to the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) after her fifth grade education to study Acting and Speech in the Department of Dramatic Art, where, as she acknowledged, her art was polished.

A product of a three-week refresher speech course in Leeds (North England) in 1997, sponsored by the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds, Clarion began acting as a keenly interested teenager in 1979, having played Lady Macbeth in William Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ, both school plays while at QRC.

The star of Valentino, Abuja Connection, Test of Manhood, Out of Hand, Take me to Jesus, Another New Day, Wild Dog, Ladies World and Best of the Game became a semi-professional actor with the University of Ibadan (UI) Performing Company and also joined Tunji Oyelana’s band, The Kenneries, as a back-up vocalist.

Clarion left the UI Performing Company in 1980 to further her professional training at the OAU and joined the acting turf as a professional actor after the ‘sound training’ she received in Ife.

Her first major work experience on screen was a lead act in Lola Fani- Kayode’s soap opera, Mirror In the Sun.

The star of Deep Love, World of Riches, Birth Mark, Lagidigba, Gold Diggers and Selfish Desires rode on the back of that television soap to walk into the consciousness of her fans.

A deeply talented actor, recipient of the Ife Theatre Legacy-Distinguished Alumnus and AFRO HOLLYWOOD Awards, Clarion is without a doubt, one of the distinguished actors in the Nigerian film and theatre renaissance and one of the continents biggest female movie stars, who has not only been consistent, but has also been having a pronounced run in the acting skies.
