Chinese Spring Festival lights up lagos

In celebrating the 2020 Chinese new year tagged ‘Year of Mouse’, the Chinese community in Nigeria will hold a traditional new year fair in Lagos today.

In celebrating the 2020 Chinese new year tagged ‘Year of Mouse’, the Chinese community in Nigeria will hold a traditional new year fair in Lagos today.

The Nigeria Huaxing Art Troupe will host the event, which is supported by the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos.

According to information released by the consulate, the event will hold at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos from 3:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m.

The consulate said guests will be admitted into the venue on the presentation of their tickets but added that they will be honoured with free Chinese cuisines, experience folk culture shows, visit Chinese exhibition stalls and win big prizes by lucky draw.

Chinese New Year celebrations, also known as the Spring Festival, in China start on the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month of the Chinese calendar. The festival lasts for about 23 days, ending on the 15th day of the first lunar month in the following year in the Chinese calendar.
