Inikpi, story of the legendary Igala princess, would light up the MUSON Centre in Lagos, as Clout Media Limited is set to stage adaptation of the true life story of the legendary princess, based on a novel by the same title.

Written by Okpanachi Joseph Adejoh, a Customs officer, the novel offers a fresh insight into the story of the Igala princess and daughter of Attah Ayegba, the forebear of the present Attah Igala, Dr. Michael Idakwo Ameh II, who willingly and heroically sacrificed herself for the liberation of the Igala people against the Jukuns of Kwararafa Kingdom, who were fearsome warriors and had planned to crush the Igala and annex their lands.

But that decision by Inikpi to offer herself saved the day, as the Jukun military expedition was crushed.Executive Director of the production, Daisy Madu-Chikwendu, said she was inspired to put the production on stage because of the contemporary relevance of the story.

“For our contemporary society that has deficit of heroes, you must agree that Inikpi has a great relevance in inspiring our youths and the country at large on the need for sacrifice. “It is a highly motivational story that will inspire members of the security forces to greater valour. It will be a beacon of hope and inspiration for Nigeria’s teeming masses and it is bound to stimulate a new social ethos based on the need to rebuild the country with a message of hope, heroism, sacrifice and valour,” she said.

On his part, Adejoh explained that he was motivated to write the story to make “this true legend and the sacrifice she made known to entire world and to document a critical period in Igala history.”Scheduled for August this year, the 90-minute piece, adapted for the stage by Aboyewa Ikomi, is presented exclusively by Clout Media, while the executive producers are Madu-Chikwendu, MacDonald Ogueri, Madu C. Chikwendu and Adejoh.
