Fatima Danladi Isa

A fan sent an offline message to ask why the popular Kannywood actress, Fatima Danladi Isa, otherwise known as Fati Asirka, didn’t make the cut when we ran a piece on some Nollywood celebrities that made it to the finish line and indeed will be contesting in the general elections.

“She is in the race,” the fan wrote. “She is the candidate for the Restoration Party of Nigeria (RPN) and will be contesting the Kano State Gubernatorial election,” he added.

We checked and actually confirmed that the delectable actress is in the race.

“I am in the race and very much so,” she confirmed. “And it is not just about testing my popularity with the good people of Kano State, it is about using the platform of the Not-Too-Young-To-Run law to contribute my quota to the development of the state beyond what I have been doing as an entertainer,” she added.

Sounding very confident, Fatima also said: “For long, our politics has been dominated by the men at all levels. We have played and have continued to play the role of cheerleaders.

“I think the time has come to break the jinx and if I get the support of my people, I will be on my way to being counted as the first female governor of the state.”

Encouraged by close friends, fans and political allies to run for the office of the governor, Fatima hinted that she was returned unopposed at the primary, adding that her status as a leading Kannywood practitioner also helped her emergence.

She said: “They already know me. So, when I solicited their support, they listened and believed me and even believed me more when they realised that my colleagues in Kannywood are behind me.”

An actress of many credits, Fatima promised to pay particular attention to the entertainment industry, agriculture, education and health, if elected.
