How we forgot to share this piece of good news, almost three weeks after, beats us. But it is still not late to mention that notable Nollywood producer and former president of the Association of Nollywood Core Producers (ANCOP), Alex Eyengho, has been re-elected Vice President of International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF).

FIAPF is the only organisation of film and television producers with a global reach and Eyengho was first elected vice president for Africa at the 2013 edition of the Cannes Film Festival in France.

His re-election means that Eyengho would serve on the executive committee of the world producers’ body for another term. It was an elated Eyengho who broke the news of his re-election at the Lagos State pavilion during the just held 70th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival.

He told a few Nigerian and Lagos State delegates at the pavilion, including Chris Ekejimbe and the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board, Dele Balogun, that he was happy to have been re-elected to serve Africa and Nigeria on the executive committee of FIAPF.

Eyengho said: “As I always say, this my re-election is not about me or about ANCOP, on which platform I was elected in the first place, it is about deepening the Nollywood brand.

“It is about attracting maximum respect to Nigerian film producers at the international level. It is about Nigeria. It is about Africa. “This is a confirmation and testimony to the fact that we are on the right track in Nollywood.”

Eyengho, who is a practising filmmaker, actor, playwright, play director and journalist, added: “The task before me is to ensure that value is added to Nollywood and the African film community as a whole within the ambit of the lofty aims and objectives of FIAPF.”

With over 30 producers’ organisations from 27 countries on five continents, FIAPF is the only body of film and television producers with a global reach. Its chief mandate is to represent the economic, legal and regulatory interests, which film and television production industries in five continents have in common.

CelebrityExtra congratulates the former secretary general of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) and National President of Association of Itsekiri Performing Artistes (AIPA), who is married and blessed with children.
