Adeyemi Federal College of Education (ACE), Ondo, has urged Federal Government and other stakeholders in the sector to prioritise entrepreneurship education for gainful youth employment.

Dr. Festus Afolabi, said this at the 3rd ACE inaugural lecture titled: “Managing Entrepreneurship Education For Job And Wealth Creation In Nigeria.” Afolabi noted that the management of unemployment in the country requires robust, comprehensive, properly managed and practical-oriented entrepreneurship education.

The don listed some of the strategies to use to include a clear identification of the objectives of entrepreneurship education. He tasked the Federal Ministry of Education, National University Commission (NUC), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB) on establishment of entrepreneurship education centre.

“This would culminate to wealth creation, improved economic growth, increase in productivity, crime reduction and effective utilization of domestic or locally produced cash crops and resources.

“It is highly imperative to make the curriculum of tertiary institutions in Nigeria more pragmatic and have built-in-job training programmes, which would enable all students to acquire relevant entrepreneurial skills for self-employment,” he said.
