PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has assured all National Youth Corps members that his administration will not abandon anybody who suffers any form of incapacitation while serving the country.

This was part of his message to the 2015 Batch A stream 11 Corps members on Thursady at the Lagos State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp, Lagos at the swearing-in ceremony, delivered by the state Governor, Akinwumi Ambode, noting that his administration is prepared and determined to lead a nation with sincerity of purpose.

He disclosed his resolve to support and encourage corps members and the National Youth Service Scheme by quick intervention and fulfillment of statutory obligations at all tiers of government, adding that Corps members must be ready too participate fully and join hands with all Nigerians to fight the scourge of corruption,” he said.

The president noted that government’s commitment is to quickly restore pace in the affected areas and guarantee the security of lives and properties of every Nigerian, including corps members.

“We must exercise self and personal discipline, and the courage to do the right thing at the right time and in the right place. This collective resolve on the part of the citizens will in turn breed and inspire good conduct and accountability in the leadership. Greed, laziness and the lure for quick money without corresponding efforts breed corruption and other vices,” the President stated.

The president promised the corps members that his administration will soon unveil comprehensive National Youth Empowerment Programme, anchored on the model provided by the NYSC scheme.

“Our goal is to comprehensively address youth employment, insecurity and other social vices prevalent amongst our youths. As a globally recognized scheme, the roles of corps members as change agents will be properly articulated and harnessed for the benefit of our citizens across the country.

In his speech, the State NYSC Cordinator, Mr. Akhanemhe Cyril appealed to Ambode to renovate the campground, which is in dire need of repairs. He noted implore the governor that his dream of a state of the art Permanent Orientation Camp in the centre of excellence comes to materialisatiion during his tenure.
