AHEAD of the general elections in February, advocacy group, Enough Is Enough Nigeria is organising a presidential and governorship election debate series called ‘The Peoples’ Debate’.

“The Peoples’ Debate”, would be hosted by EiE Nigeria in partnership with GenVoices, GEMSTONE and will hold in Lagos, Plateau, Kaduna, Imo, Rivers, and Taraba states as well as a presidential debate in Abuja.

Chairman and CEO of Channels Television, John Momoh, and popular TV personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, have been appointed to moderate some of the debates alongside other people that would be announced soon.

According to the organisers, the debate series has been created to position voters at the centre of the democratic process by reinforcing the narrative that elections and governance are about the people. It also aims to provide voters with the information required to select credible candidates and hold them accountable once in office.

In addition to The Peoples’ Debate, EiE Nigeria has announced that there would also be four more voter education concerts in Kaduna, Jos, Owerri and Lagos, having held one in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State last December.

Renowned superstars, 2Face, Pasuma, MI, Ice Prince, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, and Reminisce, among others, have been named to thrill young enthusiastic voters at these concerts.

Organisers of the concert have also promised guest appearances from A-list personalities including CEO, Channels TV, John Momoh.

Through its pre-election and post-election voter education strategies under its flagship RSVP Campaign, EiE Nigeria hopes to increase the participation of young people in Nigeria’s growing democracy.
