Bosede Olusola Ogunbunmi (1939-2016)

THE sun has set for Mrs. Bosede Olusola Ogunbunmi, a renowned Pharmacist. She was born on November 19, 1939 into the family of Mr and Mrs Onabawo, both of blessed memory, at Iperu-Remo, Ogun State.
She started her education at Methodist Primary School, Iperu-Remo in the early 1940s.

She got admission to Queens School, Ede in 1952, proceeded to Ibadan Grammar School and later crossed to Federal Science School, Victoria Island, Lagos where she completed her A-Levels.

She relocated to the United States after being awarded a Scholarship by the Federal Government. She graduated as a Pharmacist in 1966 from the College of Pharmacy, Long Island University, Brooklyn New York. She later got her Master of Science in Aerosol Science from the College of Pharmacy, St. John’s University, Jamaica in 1972.

She worked in various capacities as a pharmacist: Pharmacist Intern at Westchester Medical Centre, Valhalla, New York, (summer, 1962); Staff Pharmacist at Wyckoff Height Medical Centre, Brooklyn, New York (June 1966-February 1968); Hospital Pharmacist at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, Brooklyn; Staff Pharmacist at Katz Drugs Incorporation in Brooklyn, (September 1969-January 1972); and Hospital Pharmacist at Mary Immaculate Hospital, Brooklyn (January 1974-April 1976).

With her knowledge as a Pharmacist in U.S., she decided to relocate to Nigeria to serve her motherland. She was immediately appointed by the Federal Ministry of Health and posted to the Department of Food and Drugs Services in Lagos. Her working experience in the Ministry spanned the period October 7, 1976 through November 19, 1999 when she retired as an Assistant Director, Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja, Nigeria.

Her love for the U.S. especially Brooklyn, New York never waned, as she relocated to America immediately after retirement in December 1999. From June to July 2000, she worked as a staff Pharmacist for Community Chemist, Avenue P. Brooklyn; Thomas Pharmacy, Main Street, Freeport, New York (July 2000-March 2003); A Fair Deal Pharmacy Incorporation, Brooklyn, (April 2003-March 2007) as supervising pharmacy. She ended her pharmacy career as the supervising pharmacist at Dioze Pharmacy Brooklyn in 2011.

Truly, she was a devoted Christian as everyone whom she had touched with her life can testify. She was committed to God her Creator who never failed her. Her faith in God helped her through a lot in life.

Through her, a lot of family members, associates and friends now worship in Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM). She served God at the MFM International Headquarters in Prayer Warrior Group and Tracts and Publication Group. At the MFM Brooklyn, she was one of the signatories to the church account and prayer warrior group.

She was blessed with three wonderful young men Adeyemi Timothy, Adebayo David and Adedotun Paul Idowu and six grandchildren – Olowambepelumi Esther, David Oluwamayowa, Motunrayo Elizabeth, Daniel Oluwamayokun, Adedoyinsola Hannah and Samuel Oluwalanaayo. Her daughters-in-law are Olorunkemi, Temilade and Titilola. She is also survived by sisters, brothers and cousins.
