Wife of the late Dr Alex Ekwueme, a former Vice President, Dame Beatrice Ekwueme, still basking in the euphoria of her 85th birthday, is grateful to some eminent Nigerians who honoured her and sent congratulatory messages at the occasion, including President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dame Beatrice played a supportive role in ensuring that her husband utilised the opportunity to give his best to the country, hence the duo continued to receive accolades from all parts of the country until the former number two citizen passed on.
During the Second Republic, she led a delegation of Nigerian women and children to the International Year of the Child and the World Children’s Assembly in Sophia, Bulgaria and served as patron of the National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS) and vice president of Nigeria Girls’ Guild
