BY now, Banke Balogun, the delectable wife of Ladi Balogun of First City Monument Bank Plc probably understands what Elizabeth 1, the 16th century English monarch meant when she told a delegation from the English Parliament thus: “Good neighbours I have had , I have met with bad; and in trust I have found treason.”

Having suffered betrayal by her friends, the social high flier has beaten a careful retreat from the social scene. That she now remains aloof even at public functions, especially those she attends alone, is so glaring.

According to people who are still privileged to belong to the close circle of friends of the beautiful wife of the FCMB head honcho now keeps, Banke has decided to maintain a quiet life away from friends and acquaintances on whom she laid the blame for the rumoured break-up between her and her husband.

One would recall that tales of matrimonial troubles between her and her husband rented the air a few years back.

But Banke came out then to deny the claims and her denial was substantiated by the united front the couple showed at several public functions, which has since laid to rest the wicked insinuations.
