All roads lead to Frankfurt for Nollywood Film Festival Germany

Notable Germany-based Nigerian filmmaker and cultural ambassador, Isaac Izoya has announced that Africa’s leading music star, 2face Idibia will be the main attraction when the 2019 edition of the Nollywood Film Festival (NFFG) and Nollywood Europe Golden Awards (NEGA) open on August 30 in Frankfurt, Germany. Izoya founded NFFG and NEGA in 2014 as a platform designed for Nollywood and African filmmakers to showcase their movies to the European and Nollywood movie enthusiasts as well as a platform to honour outstanding Nollywood stakeholders, comedians, musicians and personalities whose actions have directly or indirectly impacted on the industry.

Held in alliance with Hassen State Ministry of Arts and Culture, the Ministry of Multicultural Affairs, Nigerian Embassy, Berlin, the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Nigerian Community, Frankfurt, the film component of the festival and award event will open on August 30 at the Filmforum Hochst VHS Cinema, Frankfurt with the premiere of Lancelot Oduwa Imaseun’s movie titled ‘Wade’. The movie according to a release signed by the cultural ambassador exposes the obnoxious effect of female genital mutilation that is still rampant among rural dwellers in southern Nigeria. However, the festival will climax on August 31 with the Nollywood Europe Golden Awards and gala night where Alhaji Bola Adenekan, a Nigerian philanthropist based in Germany, who is reputed to have single handedly equipped and transformed several hospitals in Nigeria and offered free health care for high risk treatment with European Doctors without borders, will be honoured.

Others on the honours list are award winning filmmaker Lancelot Oduwa Imaseun, 2face Idibia, Nollywood actress Rita Edochie, artiste manager Efe Omoregbe and Don, VS, a Europe-based music star. Izoya hinted that the Consul General of the Nigerian Consulate in Frankfurt, Ambassador Suleiman Dauda Umar is expected as Special Guest of Honour at the event that is supported by Lindner Congress Hotel, Frankfurt, Nollywood Restaurant, and Black Stars club. Izoya stated that the Nigerian Consul General would ‘personally present the 24 Karat gold NEGA award to Innocent Idibia aka 2face Idibia at the gala nite.” Izoya also said “2face will also thrill the audience at the event that will be anchored by comedian Fiddy Ice.’’
