A huge peep for stephanie Linus from UNFPA

When notable Nollywood actress, Stephanie Linus, produced her second feature film, Dry, it was to tell the story of millions of girls in Africa who are forced to be child brides.

In the film, which was declared the over-all best movie at last year’s edition of the AMVCA, Stephanie, who called the shot as director, put the spot on the sorrow, pain and health complications that arise from early marriages.

Beyond the film, the award-winning actress has devoted her time and resources to advocating for the rights of women and adolescent girls, including their rights to education, access to reproductive health care and information.

Certainly, her effort caught the attention of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), which on Wednesday formally appointed her as the Regional Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal Health in West and Central Africa.

At the unveiling ceremony at Eko Hotels and Suites, attended by UNFPA officials and top Nollywood celebrities, including Keppy Ekpeyong, Yemi Blaq and Femi Branch, the actress said she was honoured for the opportunity to partner UNFPA in creating an enabling environment for women and girls to fulfill their potentials.
