60 garlands for Edmond ‘Teacher Chike’ Enaibe

Veteran theatre and media practitioner, Edmond Emuesiri Enaibe, has been formally admitted into the unofficial club of ‘elders of the entertainment industry’ by reason of his attaining the age of 60.

Veteran theatre and media practitioner, Edmond Emuesiri Enaibe, has been formally admitted into the unofficial club of ‘elders of the entertainment industry’ by reason of his attaining the age of 60.

The stage and screen actor, director and producer, who became a household name when he acted the role of Teacher Chike in the long rested Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) soap, After The Storm, clocked 60 on July 30, and as it usual with stage and screen celebrities, Enaibe’s social media timeline, including his Whatsapp account, almost could not contain loads of tributes that he received from friends, colleagues, family members, and teeming fans.

The National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), of which Enaibe is a Fellow, flooded the social media with congratulatory messages for one of their own, who they described as a worthy ambassador of the theatre profession.

“We are celebrating him for being a worthy ambassador and for his distinguished and meritorious service to the association and industry,” said Israel Eboh, National President of NANTAP.

An elated Enaibe took to his social media handle the next day with words of appreciation for everyone that rejoiced with him, adding: “Just want to say thank you to everyone for taking time to celebrate with me yesterday on attaining three scores years on earth.

“I am extremely grateful. I pray that we all have reasons to celebrate the goodness and mercy of God in our lives. Thank you.”

An accomplished actor and administrator, Enaibe studied Dramatic Arts at the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, and straight from there, he began professional theatre practice and has been at it since then.

A stickler for thorough professionalism, who at a time served as the organising secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalist, Enaibe, who also had a stint as Arts Editor of the defunct Republic Newspaper, has featured in a number of stage and screen productions, including Newman Street, The Governor and in Ahmed Yerima’s Attahiru.
