Lagos pledges support for water technologies expo

The Lagos state government has pledged to support the upcoming water technologies exhibition.Commissioner for Environment, Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti, indicated this when the organisers of the exhibition, a Turkey based firm, ElanExpo paid a courtesy visit at the ministry recently.

The essence of the exhibition is to ensure adequate supply and distribution of clean water in West Africa, create synergy among water agencies, bring more investors, generate foreign direct investment (FDI) to the country and also increase the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR). He pointed out that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was investing heavily and putting measures in place to ensure adequate supply of portable water across the state.

The coordinator, West Africa Water Expo (WAWE), Jude Chime stated that following the country’s increasing population; there was the need to consider water as a major daily necessity.

He noted that access to clean and potable water would help to reduce various health challenges. The water exhibition and conference holds in July at the Landmark Centre in Lagos and would allow companies to showcase their equipment and create an avenue for matchmaking services to generate business ideas.

“We are expecting over 5000 visitors and over 100 manufacturers coming from different parts of the world, it will increase the revenue generation of the state. The expo is a very big project and happy that LASG is keying into the project.
