A lagos-based real state firm, Tobykemsworth Investment limited has introduced an innovative package that will enable teachers’ own homes. The affordable offering launched towards the end of 2018 has received wide acceptance with over 500 teachers coming on board.

Tagged: “ Teachers’ Home Ownership Project”, the project is designed for primary school teachers in private and public schools in two locations, namely Agbara and Mowe – Ofada.

The Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Mr. Adekunle Raphael told The Guardian that the project which cost N4.97 million for three detached bungalow and N3.97 million for a two bedroom is part of the firm’s goal to celebrate teachers, who give their best but are often forgotten.

The motivation for the project, he said came after interaction with a teacher, who retired into a rented house after several years of service.According to him, “it is our own little way of giving honour to whom honour is due because majority of the teachers survive on their pensions, which often do not come and may not be able to pay rents after their retirements.

Raphael, an engineer, said the scheme has been linked to the firm’s landmark Honeywell Garden estates with a monthly payment of N37, 000 and N40, 000 spread across ten years. To qualify, subscribers, he said are required to make an initial commitment of N5, 000 and will be enrolled in an insurance scheme that will guarantee their investments even when they lost their jobs or in case of death.

He stressed that the buildings, which measures about 243 square metres for a fully detached apartment at the two locations come with affordable designs and insurance cover.

“Subscribers who pay between five – seven years will have their keys while they complete their payments. There are also site and service plots that go for N800, 000 per plot in Agbara and N700, 000 in Mowe,” he said.He also said the integrity of the firm has led to the acceptance of the project.

A teacher with Mandate Private School, Lagos- Isheri road, Akesan, Lagos, Mrs. Olaneewahu Elizino, said the project is the first of its kind in Nigeria and has come at a time when motivation for the teaching profession is at low ebb.Teacher Zino, who is the brand ambassador for the project, urged teachers to utilise the opportunity to invest in the future of their children. She stressed that many organisations always come with products that will not outlive the teachers but the housing project is unique because teachers can transfer the houses to their children unlike other products that have a short life span.
