One of Nigeria’s emerging property technology (PropTech) companies, Hutbay has rebranded and revamped its property portal.

PropTech is the use of information technology (IT) to help individuals and companies research, buy, sell and manage real estate. Similar to the way FinTech focuses on the use of technology in finance, PropTech uses digital innovation to address the needs of the property industry.

Launched formally on May 2013, Hutbay has steadily grown to become one of the top real estate portals in Nigeria.

The property portal allows property seekers to search for both residential and commercial property to buy and rent. The company works directly with professional realtors and also with individual property owners to help them sell or rent their properties faster.

According to its founder, Owolabi Olatunji, the portal has been growing steadily over the last three years, from 5,000 listings in 2015 to 23,635 listings as of July 2019. Estate agents and developers who use the portal increased from 1,300 to over 6,000 estate agents and developers. Traffic also increased steadily to 75k unique monthly visitors. The website also powers and provides dedicated websites with a custom domain name for over 400 realtors.

With a new brand identity, new logo and redesigned website, Owolabi said the company is poised to move to its next milestones schedule among which is to increase its traffic in 12 months and increase the engagement of its over 6,000 estate agents and developers.

“We are determined to make property hunting in Nigeria a trivial task, by empowering everyone with simple but powerful tools, features and data that helps anyone to make better informed real estate decisions by providing access to insightful property data,’’ says Owolabi Olatunji, the founder, and CEO of HutbayUTBAY.com.

In the next coming weeks, the company will be launching its revamped mobile apps for Android and iOS. Its Movers/Removals platform, which the company pioneered in 2015, and which has helped in facilitating over 400 moves/removals across the country by working with its 21+ partner removal companies, will also receive renewed focus.

“Our vision is to be the best property platform in Nigeria and be 5x better than our nearest competition. It’s a long but interesting journey we are determined to see to the finish, gallantly and graciously,” Owolabi said.
