A Lagos-based firm, Afreal Limited, has introduced an innovative online real estate market hub that provides service for prospective homeowners in Nigeria.

The company also partnered with Old Mutual, a leading global financial services group to deliver digital insurance solution to the industry.

The platform is to serve as a contact point for developers, customers and homebuyers by providing them with necessary information needed to purchase homes. Through the pact, Old Mutual will make available home insurance packages/benefits like, building fire and peril, household goods and personal belonging, burglary, fire insurance, alternative accommodation cost in event of home loss, personal accident cover and personal liability cover.

The Chairman Afreal Limited, Prof. Chris Ogbechie, said: “With technology the interest spreads across the world, as people can sit at the comfort of their homes and purchase houses with payment plans that suit their income. They can also learn about what housing opportunities are available from verified developers listed on the website,” he said.

Corroborating his view, the Managing Director, Afreal Limited, Maurice Okoli, noted that mortgage penetration and housing delivery is very slow in the Nigerian market; hence, the technology will help to tackle these problems.

In his speech, the Executive Head, Marketing and Customer Experience, Old Mutual, Alero Ladipo said that the partnership signals its commitment to Nigeria and growing industries such as the real estate markets.
