For failing to comply with state government’s directives, the Delta taskforce on land regularisation has commenced demolition of fences on undeveloped land and buildings belonging to individuals that have not regularised their documents in the Okpanam core area II of the state capital of Asaba.

The Chairman of the State Taskforce on land regularisation, Chief Frank Omare who led the demolition squad said that the operation clearly demonstrates that the government was not taking the issue lightly, adding that fences of undeveloped plots were pulled down while gates of occupants without evidence of payments were put under lock and keys.

According to him, the state government gave a 50 per cent discount for the occupants that amounted to about N750, 000 instead of the initial N1.5 million due to the economic situation in the country.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has charged construction firms handling the various infrastructural projects within Asaba Capital Territory to increase the pace of work.

Okowa spoke during the inspection of ongoing works on Okpanam Road and drain projects; the 4.4km Joseph Ebolo and Madonna road and drains project; the 1.6km Ojife Street.

Nduka Iloba and Casaloba Street. Other road projects were the 700meters Isioma Onyeobi link road from sand beach through Rapu road to Cable road and the 510 meters Stadium and Cap Wire roads off Nnebisi road in the Asaba metropolis pledged to complete the projects by May.
