Benue regrets absence of masterplan in Makurdi

The General Manager (GM) of Benue State Urban Development Board (UDB), Richard Agwa has regretted the absence of master plan for Makurdi, the Benue State Capital.

The General Manager (GM) of Benue State Urban Development Board (UDB), Richard Agwa has regretted the absence of master plan for Makurdi, the Benue State Capital.

Agwa, who spoke to journalists in Makurdi, stressed the need for an urban policy, saying it would help check the activities of illegal development in the cities.

He said the board would soon embark on structural planning where it would take care of issues of water works, roads and others.

He further disclosed that the board generated about N39.6 million from development of building plans in 2016.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr. John Onoja stressed the need to prepare a master plan for Makurdi and other major towns in the state considering their growth rate, saying, it would guide physical development in the state.

He informed that the ministry has in the period under review opened up about 25 access roads in Makurdi metropolis as well as demolished over 300 houses most of which were situated on water ways to instill sanity in the city.
