Tinubu is our southern ‘Capone’ in APC, says Akeredolu

• Appeal panel begins sitting over APC council congresses in Oyo today
• Group tasks women, youths on critical participation in 2023 elections

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has described the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, as the “Capone” of the party in South-West.

He reiterated the stance of the southern governors to demand a presidential candidate of the party from the region, saying: “Our stance is for equity and justice.”

The governor, who spoke during a monitored interview session with Reuben Abati on Arise TV, yesterday, also justified his visit to Tinubu in London ahead of 2023 presidential election.

He said: “ I am an APC person and I have said it over and over that I won’t leave APC. Once I am through, I am going back to my chambers where I find more comfort. So, whoever the APC brings, I will support.

“For the national leader, we are waiting for him to come so that critical decisions could be taken. He is our leader in the South and the one we can call our Capone.”

IN another development, members of the APC in Oyo State who have complaints against the conduct of the party’s council congresses in the state, have been asked to approach the congress appeal panel sitting in Ibadan from today to submit and defend their positions.

A statement made available to journalists yesterday, by its Chairman, Ozoemena, said members of the panel would begin its sitting on Monday, September 20 until Wednesday, September 22, 2021 when it is expected to round off its activities in the state.

The venue of the sitting is the party’s new state secretariat at Oke-Ado, Ibadan, while the time of the sitting is between 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.

A group, the League of Women Voters of Nigeria (NILOWV), has urged women and youths in the country to use their numerical strength to change the narrative in the coming 2023 general elections.

In a statement yesterday, founder of the organisation, Dame Esther Uduehi, said if the current democratic dispensation, which has not really improved the condition of living of Nigerians, especially women and youth population, must change, Nigerians must vote right in 2023. She said 2023 must be taken so crucial if the stake of women and youths must improve in Nigeria’s democratic governance.
