Bello, Ribadu, Nono win Gombe PDP tickets

The Senate Leader, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, has clinched the Yobe North Senatorial ticket to contest election on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019.The Returning Officer, Umar Kareto, who announced the results of the primaries on Tuesday in Gashua, said Lawan was elected unopposed by scoring 1,702 votes with 12 invalid votes.

Lawan, who appreciated the APC family in the senatorial district for their trust in him, said: “The people have kept faith in me. They have also shown trust, tolerance, resilience and support.”

In a related vein, the House of Representatives Deputy Minority Whip, Fatima Binta Bello, representing Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency, has emerged as Gombe-South Senatorial District candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Bello polled 293 votes to beat Senator Joshua Lidani who scored 129 votes, deputy governor of the state, Mr. Charles Iliya (12 votes), Yusuf Manu (21 votes) and Hassan Ahmadu Haruna (22 votes.)Also, in Gombe North Senatorial District, the state Commissioner for Special Duties, Mohammed Usman Ribadu, has emerged the flagbearer of the party in the state, while the state Speaker of the House of Assembly, Nasiru Nono, emerged as the winner of Gombe Central Senatorial District.
