Police offer scholarship to nine students in Yobe

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) yesterday announced scholarships for nine students in Yobe State after passing their “aptitude tests and examinations” conducted in Damaturu, the state capital under the Nigerian Police Scholarship Scheme (NPSS).

The nine winners include three for Secondary School to University levels, while six others are for primary school pupils that will be supported for their degree programmes.

Presenting the letters of scholarship yesterday in Damaturu, Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Zannah Ibrahim said that the scheme is aimed at supporting children of the rank and file and other officers from the lower rank of inspector.

Children of the decease police officers; will continue to enjoy this scheme up to University level; while those still serving will only be supported if their parents or guardians are not found wanting in the discharge of their official duties,” said Zannah on the eligibilities of pupils and students.

He also commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase for instituting the scheme.
“The implementation and sustenance NPSS; will also stimulate productivity among the rank and file; as well as give them a sense of belonging,” said the police commissioner.

Over a thousand students of police officers and men of the Yobe Police Command sat for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) scholarship scheme examinations.
