Oyo PDP tasks Ajimobi on public declaration of assets
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has challenged the state governor, Abiola Ajimobi to declare his assets as he begins a second term in the spirit of change and accountability.
The PDP, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Kehinde Salawu urged the governor to embrace the principle of probity and accountability by telling the world how much he was worth before becoming the governor of the state in 2011 and now, after four years in office.
“Our party, the PDP, takes this opportunity to congratulate the governor on his inauguration for another term in office. Knowing the nature of the office he occupies, we pray to God to grant him the wisdom to lead the state.
“However, the people of the state have been waiting on the governor to follow the path of honour by declaring his assets. The public will be interested in the governor’s assets for the purpose of transparency and accountability.
It is the honourable thing to do and the PDP is quite sure that the governor will follow that path and make an open declaration soon,” the PDP stated.
Citing the resolve of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to fight corruption, the PDP called on Ajimobi to declare his assets because of his party’s promise to fight corruption while restating its resolve to keep the governor on his toe and lead the people’s charge for good governance.
