Okowa didn’t push me out of PDP, Uduaghan insists

Immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, yesterday dismissed insinuations that he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because Governor Ifeanyi Okowa doesn’t listen to “wise counsel.”He was quoted to have made the remarks during an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Koko, Warri North Local Council.

The ex-governor made the clarification on his Facebook page, which he directed to the state PDP Public Relations Officer, Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, whom he accused of frequently using the allegation to malign him.

Uduaghan wrote: “To Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, PRO of Delta State PDP, please note that the above statement did not come from me. In your usual style since I moved into APC, you have used it to pour venom on me.“I appointed you a commissioner in my administration. I will therefore not go down that piggery route with you.

“Please get the tape of what I said, which is not new. That’s what good PROs do.“Finally, I am focused on issues concerning my aspiration to represent Delta South senatorial district. I expect you to focus on those issues in trying to stop me from getting the ticket.“I will not be distracted by people like you.”

Reacting, Osuoza said the erstwhile state chief executive was being ‘mischievously economical’ with the truth, claiming that he parted ways with the party because he was denied an automatic ticket for the National Assembly polls holding on the 16th of next month.

The PDP equally described Uduaghan’s claims as “unfortunate and a huge disappointment,” maintaining that he ought to exhibit “a more responsible level of verbal decency and decorum irrespective of his new political affiliation.”
Meanwhile, Governor Okowa has congratulated his Bayelsa State counterpart, Henry Seriake Dickson, on his 53rd birthday.

In a message by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, Okowa also celebrated with Bayelsans for having a performing leader.

In another statement, the governor commiserated with the deputy captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa, over the death of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Moses, last Thursday.Condoling also with members of the family, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the football community, Okowa noted that the deceased single-handedly nurtured Ahmed and his four sisters when her husband passed on 21 years ago.
