A faction of the Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday decried the conduct of the party’s congresses, which led to the removal of some party officers and delegates.

The party held its wards and councils congresses across the state last Saturday.

The aggrieved members, believed to be loyalists of former Governor Segun Osoba, alleged that the congress was conducted in contravention of Article 21 D (VI) of the party’s constitution.

They, therefore, urged the National Executive Committee (NEC) to set aside the results of the congresses.

Protesting the congress, they carried placards with inscriptions such as, “APC for all, stop discrimination,” “No more harassment in our party,” “APC is our party,” and “APC, no more Amosun’s Property,” among others.

But party’s Publicity Secretary, Sola Lawal, insisted that the party’s constitution was followed in the conduct of the congress.

Lawal who spoke to journalists on telephone, denied the allegations that the names of some party officers were removed from the delegates’ list.

Reading their protest letter, the APC Chairman for Ogun Central senatorial district, Kunle Adeshina, said the congresses did not follow the party’s constitution and guidelines.

He said the removal of the party officers and delegates by the Acting Chairman, Tajudeen Lemboye, was illegal and violated article 21 D (VI) of the APC Constitution.

Also speaking, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Tunji Egbetokun, who urged the protesters to remain calm and law abiding, said they would not allow anybody to run away with the success of APC.

“We will wait for the outcome of the injustice that will be addressed by the NEC. This injustice happened in 2014/2015 and we will not allow it to happen this time. We will also not shift ground for anybody as we remain members of our great the APC,” he said.
