Northern chieftain calls for dissolution of PDP NWC
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Abubakar Girei has urged the National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, to resign their positions to pave way for the repositioning of the party.
Girei also cautioned the party leadership to stop the blame game over the party’s defeat in the presidential election, saying the entire leadership should accept responsibility for the defeat particularly the presidential polls.
Speaking during an interview session in Kaduna, the PDP chieftain spoke on the dwindling fortune of the party and pointed out that the defeat was an act of God and that more efforts is needed to be put in place to strategies for 2019 general elections.
According to him, “Although the loss suffered by our great party in the last elections was an act of God, the National Leadership of the party must accept full responsibility for the humiliating defeat.
“For this loss to be only a temporary setback, the party need to reinvent, re-engineer and re-brand itself earliest possible in order to bounce in the next round of elections in 2019.
“The party (PDP) remains the largest and the best structured with the most experienced, dedicated and committed members who will not sit down and watch greedy, corrupt and inept leadership send their party to its early grave.”
“It is in view of this that I am constrained to once again appeal to the National Chairman and members of the NWC to honourably relinquish their positions in order to pave way for the immediate repositioning of the PDP.
“Those who claim that they have a tenure to serve should be reminded that the party members and in deed Nigerians know how each and everyone of them came on board.
“Therefore failure for them to resign honourably will leave the party members committed to future success with no alternative than to pass vote of no confidence and sack them all.
I am also hereby calling on our leader Chief Tony Anenih, Senate President David Mark and Godwill Akpabio, to summon a meeting of major stakeholders, before the end of May, to salvage our great party.”

Muazu should go when ovation is loudest so that he does not sit down as the chairman and be rediculed. Take UK for an example, the three leaders of the oppositions resigned without anyone urging them to. Niger Farag resigned but his party said no to his resignation and called him back. Muazu, resign if your party wants you back, they will call you back. We need a vibrant and formidable opposition. Nigeria is not and would not be a one party state. Nigerians have wisen up and cannot be gullible.
We will review and take appropriate action.
