PDP candidate pledges to revive state
Standard-Bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru, yesterday blamed Governor Nasir El-Rufai for poor governance and backwardness of the state.

Ashiru, who promised to return the state to the path of development and unity, spoke at a campaign rally in Zonkwa and Kachia, in Zango Kataf Local Government Area.A former governor of the state, Ahmed Makarfi, assured party supporters that Ashiru would return the state to peace, unity and development, if elected.

Also speaking at the rally, a former Aviation Minister and Kaduna State PDP Chairman, Felix Hassan Hyat, lamented that El-Rufai has plunged the state into hunger and kidnapping. He said: “I feel sorry for Kaduna State now that hunger, killings, large scale job losses and absence of development has been the trade mark of the APC under El-Rufai.

“When you vote for Ashiru, the PDP will take Kaduna State from its present backwardness and tyranny of power, to the days when the PDP constructed roads, built schools, hospitals, and provided rural areas with electricity and many more.”

Makarfi, a former Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the PDP, explained: “When we came to power in 1999, we found out then that Col. Hameed Ali, now Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), had sacked workers in large numbers, but we returned most of them.

“When you vote for Ashiru, our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and all our candidates, we shall return most of you who lost your jobs, and we shall ensure that we continue PDP’s trademark, which is unity, security and development.”

Running mate to Ashiru, representative of Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Sunday Marshal Katung, cautioned against what he described as “later day love,” for the people. Katung expressed disappointment that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is known for arrogance, deceit, and marginalisation of non-party members, as well as contempt for the people of Zango Kataf.

“Never trust them now that they are wooing you with later day love. If they never loved you for nearly four years, is it now that they will respect and treat you well when you return them to a final lap of four years?” he asked. Immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, and former Minister of Environment, Mrs. Laurentia Mallam expressed confidence that Zangon Kataf people would vote for the PDP.
