Lagos APC council electoral appeal committee treats 125 petitions, submits report

Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) Electoral Appeal Committee, headed by Lawal Pedro (SAN), has recommended a consensus approach to addressing the various complains arising from its May 29, 2021 council primaries. The complaints bothered on instances of outright failure to hold primaries, violence and inconclusive procedures.
While submitting its report to the Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Mr. Tunde Balogun yesterday, the committee said it treated 125 petitions arising from the primaries.
After a three-week sitting, the committee said the consensus process is provided for by the party’s constitution, with emphasis on the participation of all concerned stakeholders.
The committee admonished the party to be guided by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) timelines for the submission of names of candiålocal government elections on July 24.
In his remarks, Balogun appreciated the painstaking efforts and the thoroughness of the committee in the discharge of its assignments. He assured that the party would avail itself of its informed recommendations to effectively conclude the party nominations for the elections.
He commended the efforts of the party leadership at ward, local and state levels at initiating reconciliation process to ensure the party approaches the elections as a united family.
Other members of the committee were Ayo Alli-Balogun as secretary, Alhaji Akeem Apatira, Yemi Adesina, a lawyer, and Chief Tajudeen Amusa.
