The Accord Party (AP) Governorship Candidate in the April 11 election, Senator Rashidi Ladoja has appealed against the judgment of the Court of Appeal affirming the victory of Governor Abiola Ajimobi as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The lower tribunal and the Appeal panel had at different times dismissed the petition filed by Ladoja and his party describing the evidence by his star witness as unreliable.

Besides, the panel held that since the witness was not a forensic expert, his evidence cannot be relied upon.
Apparently dissatisfied with the ruling, the former governor proceeded to the apex court seeking an order to upturn the previous judgements.
The senior media assistant to the Accord gubernatorial candidate, Lanre Latinwo while accusing the All Progressive Congress (APC) of frustrating their efforts said the appeal has been filed at the Supreme Court.

He said the former governor and Accord Party were able to meet the 14days deadline within which to present their case before the apex court.

Latinwo accused the appeal panel of deliberately frustrating their bid to meet the deadline for filing the petition at the Supreme Court by withholding their judgement.
Meanwhile, as the battle over the 2015 governorship poll in Oyo State shifts to the Supreme Court, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state yesterday maintained that it has retired former governor Rashidi Ladoja of the Accord Party (AP) from active politics.

The APC while reacting to claims by the former governor that the ruling party cannot send him to political oblivion said, Ladoja is only fighting a lost battle.

In a statement by its Director of publicity and strategy, Olawale Sadare, the APC said it could only sympathize with the former governor over his loss in the 2015 polls.

Ladoja had in an interview berated the APC leadership in the state and assured his supporters that Accord party would bounce back in due course.
