Supporters of the immediate past governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have been condemned for their conduct during his condolence visit to Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, over the death of his mother.

It was reported that during Kwankwaso’s visit to the governor on Monday his supporters were allegedly chanting anti-Ganduje slogan and displaying campaign posters for Kwankwaso.

Reacting to the development, Chairman of the state chapter of the All Progressives Party (APC), Umar Haruna Doguwa, condemned the action by the supporter of the former governor.

He said the unity of the party is sacrosanct, stressing that the overwhelming support the party enjoyed from the people of the state, could only be sustained by entrenching discipline, loyalty and orderliness.

Doguwa lamented further that: “The visit was a misdemeanor and very unbecoming of a visit of such kind. It visit was practically politicised as against the mission of condolence. “

According to the party chairman, “We wish to categorically say that both the leadership and Elders Committee of the party were not officially informed about the visit by the Senator to Governor Ganduje, let alone the display of political slogans and chanting of hate slogans against Governor Ganduje.”

Doguwa warned that: “The party will forward a formal letter of compliant on this for necessary action. We are calling on all APC members in the state to remain calm.”

The party called the attention of Kwankwaso to know that their loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari was total.
A source close to the party said APC may take a decision on the development soon, which may include suspending Kwankwaso from the party.

“Governor Ganduje is the recognised authourity in Kano and the administration must be given due regard. We are assuring that we will get to the root of this unfortunate incident,” Doguwa emphasised.
