The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday, commenced the distribution of 174,918 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) for last year’s registrants in Borno State.
Announcing the distribution at a news conference in Maiduguri, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mohammed Magaji Ibrahim, said 207,016 voters were registered last year, with the delivery of 174,918 PVCs for distribution.

He said the distribution exercise, which commenced in the metropolis last Monday, was being conducted at designated Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) centres across the state.“We reassure our people that the commission is determined to provide a level playing ground,” he said.

Ibrahim noted that a hitch-free PVCs distribution exercise would add value to democracy, regretting that insecurity to lives and property affected registration last year in Abadam, Marte, Kala/Balge and Guzamala councils. He said this informed the commission’s decision to convert most of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps into registration centres.
