Igbo in diaspora endorse Atiku/Obi, urges southeast to support candidates

Ahead of Saturday’s presidential election, the World Igbo Congress (WIC) has endorsed the standard-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Peter Obi.

Ahead of Saturday’s presidential election, the World Igbo Congress (WIC) has endorsed the standard-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Peter Obi.

In a statement, the congress commended the selection of former governor of Anambra State, and expressed conviction that the PDP would take Nigeria to a level of transformation, as well as economic and industrial growth.

They also appealed to the Ndi Igbo all over the Nigeria to come out en mass to vote for Atiku-Obi for the betterment of the country.Meanwhile, the South East Youth Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Innocent Ojike has cautioned Igbo against the danger of not re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ojike urged the Igbo to vote massively for Buhari in the poll, so that they don’t lose in the political equation in the country.He said the presidential poll would determine what the Igbo would be in the coming democratic dispensation.

Speaking at a press conference in Awka, the Anambra State capital yesterday, he said Atiku’s victory would eclipse the hope of the Igbo to present the presidential candidate in 2023, since the PDP would stay for another eight years.

In a related development, the Pan Niger Delta Elders Forum (PANDEF) has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari, does not deserve re-election, especially the votes of people in the Niger Delta region.

This, it, noted followed his administration’s performance, which disappointed and abandoned the region.PANDEF’s National Secretary, Dr. Alfred Mulade, lamented that the group had met with Buhari, and presented a-16 point demand including an upgrade of the Nigerian Maritime University, restructuring of the country, clean up of Ogoniland among others.

He regretted that till date, none of the demands were met; hence it is supporting Atiku, who is more inclined to restructuring the country. The group’s secretary spoke in Port Harcourt yesterday during a sensitisation programme on the 2019 elections.
