Ganduje gets certificate of return as PDP members-elect boycott
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued certificate of return to Kano State Governor-elect, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for second term in office.
Ganduje received the certificate along his deputy, Nasiru Yusuf Gawna and members of state House of Assembly under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Assembly members-elect boycotted the ceremony.A statement signed by spokesperson to PDP Campaign Management Team 2019 in Kano, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the party asked its members-elect to shun the ceremony amid palpable fear of possible attack during the event. Sanusi said that the PDP had reservation on the choice of venue after writing officially to INEC but worried why the umpire turn blind eyes.
INEC National Commissioner in charge of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states, Abubakar Nahuche, urged political class in the country to always imbibe spirit of sportsmanship and eschew do-or-die politics.
