The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Kebbi State branch in collaboration with the national headquarters of the union Abuja, has endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Atiku Abubakar Bagudu for second terms of office.

The union’s endorsement of Buhari’s second term came in spite of the controversy over whether the president should seek reelection or not.

Meanwhile, a traditional ruler in Anambra State, HRM Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo said the chances of Buhari being reelected in 2019 are very remote following the current state of affairs in which poverty, violence and other vices are prevalent.

However, one of the prominent members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Mr. Chibuike Ukauwa said the only condition which could guarantee Buhari’s return in 2019 is if he quickly rejigs his present cabinet and also initiatives moves that would carry along his supporters as the race for second term bid is fast approaching.

Speaking over the weekend at the Haliru Audu Stadium in Kebbi State, the NURTW National President, Alhaji Dr. Najeeb Usman Yasin said Buhari and the state governor remain the most credible persons to continue in office as president and governor in 2019.

Recalling the premium placed on improving road infrastructure and transportation in the last three years of assuming office, Yasin said the president has rekindled confidence in travelers by restoring security and tranquility to the nation.

He also expressed firm support to the decision by the Kebbi State branch to endorse both President Buhari and Governor Bagudu to serve another tenure in 2019.

Also in his remark, Kebbi branch chairman, Alhaji Usman Abubakar Bagudu directed all members to vote for Buhari and Bagudu next year in view of their record of achievements.

While presenting the endorsement letter to the representatives of the governor, Bagudu said, “The endorsement letter as for onward submission to Mr. President.”

Meanwhile, Governor Bagudu appreciated the support as he also promised that state government would provide soft loan of N200 million to the union for it members to purchase buses for commercial purpose, while another sum of same amount would be made available to the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) for the same objective.

The Anambra monarch said the spate of killings across the nation is unprecedented and the lopsidedness in Buhari’s appointments does not represent Federal Character, saying, “With such character, President Buhari’s re election bid remains dicey.

According to him, “Unless he rectifies those grey areas like in the appointment and not using his Fulani kinsmen to fill major and sensitive positions, he may find his reelection very difficult.

“I said it last year that there would not be election without restructuring and is like the APC is working on that now. So his reelection may not be possible depending on how he moves and he has to be fast about it and provide answered all the accusations of appointing only his own people.?

On the proposal to introduce state police as advocated by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the monarch said it would not make any serious impact.

Speaking in Umuahia, the APC stalwart, Ukauwa alleged that some members of Buhari’s cabinet are saboteurs and clogs in the wheel of his progress.

He alleged that some cabals in the government were misleading the president.

He said the only thing is for Buhari to review his cabinet, which would facilitate his quest to actualize his plans for the country otherwise, he may not succeed.

According to Ukauwa, “Disgruntled elements have been commissioned to sabotage the president’s bold policies hence the need for him to rejig his cabinet to inject fresh blood.

“I believe that President Buhari is being highly manipulated by a cabal in the presidency. Nigerians are expecting him to flush out these cabals that emasculate and hijack his government.”

Ukauna added that despite this cabal, he still reposed confidence in the Buhari-led Federal Government “but as a matter of urgency, he should reshuffle his cabinet because on assumption of office, Buhari laid a solid foundation for the development of Nigeria.”

Ukauwa, who decried the nefarious activities of killer herdsmen in some parts of the country, tasked the Federal Government to find lasting solutions.
